The Racing & Lapping Academy returned to Calabogie Motorsports Park on May 23–24, delivering two full days of intensive driver training on the brand-new repaved surface.
The weekend brought everything drivers need to grow: learning, adaptation, and real on-track experience in all conditions.
Saturday challenged everyone with rain throughout the day. Wet conditions turned the track into a true classroom, forcing drivers to focus on smooth inputs, vision, and car control. In the rain, every mistake is amplified, and every correction becomes a lesson. It was a perfect reminder that the difference between a good driver and a fast driver lies in the ability to adapt as conditions change.
Despite the weather, sessions continued as planned, with instructors guiding drivers through evolving grip levels and helping them build confidence in low-traction environments.
Sunday brought a complete shift. The skies cleared, the track dried, and drivers could experience the full capabilities of the new surface at speed. The transformation from wet to dry provided a unique comparison that accelerated learning and highlighted just how much the surface evolves under different conditions.
Throughout both days, feedback on the new asphalt was extremely positive. Drivers noted the smooth consistency, improved grip, and overall confidence the surface inspires, making it a standout upgrade for the season.
From first-time track drivers to those pursuing advanced development, the Academy once again delivered a focused, structured environment built around progression, safety, and performance.
A big thank you to all participants, instructors, and staff who made the weekend a success. We look forward to seeing everyone back on track soon as the season continues to build momentum.
